Isla de Lobos · Permit

The permit is free. The places are not unlimited.

To set foot on Isla de Lobos you need an authorisation from the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, the island council. It costs nothing, you apply online, and capacity is limited to 200 people per time slot.

The official facts

What you need to know, plainly.

Isla de Lobos is a protected natural area whose capacity is set by its Use and Management Master Plan (Plan Rector de Uso y Gestión). The permit is not a commercial formality: it is part of that protection.

Why the limit exists

Two hundred people, not two thousand.

The islet has La Concha beach, the trail to the La Caldera volcano and little else. Limiting access is what keeps it from turning into something else.

  • Protected natural area
  • Capacity of 200 people per time slot
  • No shade: water, a cap and sun protection
  • Comfortable footwear, and water shoes if you are going to swim

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us.

If something is missing, ask us in writing and we will check it.

How much does the permit cost?

Nothing. The authorisation to visit the Lobos islet is free of charge. If someone charges you to arrange it, they are charging you for a free procedure.

Do I also need it if I go on an organised excursion?

Yes. The Cabildo specifies that the authorisation is independent of the means of transport you use to reach the islet. The boat ticket and the permit are two separate things.

Does it run out?

The capacity of the natural area is limited to 200 visitors at a time, in two time slots. In summer and on long weekends it fills up, so it is worth getting it as soon as the date opens.

How many people can I include in one application?

The Cabildo's announcement set a maximum of three people per application and time slot. Confirm the current limit on the official portal, because it is the kind of detail that changes.

How far in advance?

The application window opens a few days before the visit, not months. The portal itself shows which dates are open when you go in.

Will I be asked for it on arrival?

Carry it on your phone and have it to hand when you board. Each visitor is identified on the authorisation by first name, surname and national ID or passport.

Does Majovibe arrange it?

No, and we do not charge for it. It is a free official procedure that you complete yourself on the Cabildo's portal. If you get stuck, we will explain it to you in writing at no cost.
